Silver Screen Weekly - What's Coming Up At The Cinema From Friday 26th July
Our film critic and media correspondent has been looking and trawling the new releases. Here's what you can see on the big screen this week.
From Friday 26th July
Deadpool & Wolverine (15)
Let's f’n Go! For perhaps the most anticipated film of 2024, as Deadpool is back and he has an X-tremely big friend helping him to crack wise and crack ribs! Ryan Reynolds is back as the merc with a mouth, who teams up with Hugh Jackman, as he makes his unforeseen return as X-Men legend Wolverine, as this match made in heaven (well…maybe!) must unite to save the world. Promising a plethora of cameos and surprises for fans, fourth wall breaking gags aplenty and all manner anarchy, Deadpool and Wolverine is the third Deadpool film and first to take place as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and might be the jolt of naughty energy this comic book franchise sorely needs!
From Wednesday 31st July
Harold and the Purple Crayon (PG)
Based on the beloved children’s book by Crockett Johnson, Harold and the Purple Crayon is this summer holiday’s brand new family film! Starring Shazam!’s Zachary Levi, director Carlos Saldanha’s (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs) film acts as a sequel to the original book, and sees Harold grow up with his magical purple crayon, and eventually draw himself off the pages of the book, and into the physical world, where he finds that he has a lot to learn about real life. Imaginative, colourful, family friendly fun, Harold and the Purple Crayon is the perfect choice for this summer holiday. Co-starring Lil Rel Howery, Zooey Deschanel, Jemaine Clement and Alfred Molina.
