Metro Bank & ECB Pledge To Treble Number Of Girls’ Cricket Teams By 2026

Metro Bank and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have pledged to treble the number of girls’ cricket teams in England and Wales. The two organisations will work together with the aim of transforming access to grassroots cricket by recruiting 6,000 volunteers to grow girls’ cricket so there are 2,000 clubs with a girls' sections and 6,000 girls' teams by 2026.

Cartmel Steward Says Goodbye After 60 Years
A much-loved steward who’s worked at Cartmel Racecourse for almost 60 years marked his retirement on Bank Holiday Monday. Richard Repton started his career litter-picking for pocket money aged 5, going on to sell racecards and doing other jobs before becoming a parking attendant and finally a steward, working in all areas of the course through rain and shine.
