Once again the AJ Bell Great North Run 2025 was a celebration of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, as a record number of runners took part in the 44th edition of the world famous half marathon.

Formula 1 was back in action this weekend, just days after the previous round in the Netherlands, and at Italy’s renowned ‘Temple of Speed’ circuit at Monza, near Milan, it was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who claimed the top step on the podium following the Italian Grand Prix, in which he comprehensively beat the McLarens of both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

With Newcastle set to host over 60,000 participants in September’s AJ Bell Great North Run, Dame Kelly Holmes, the iconic Olympic athlete and double gold medallist, will be there as a start line VIP, amongst both Pacers lending her support to runners as the official Ambassador for the Solgar® Wellness Partnership with The Great Run Series 2025.

Sheffield’s rising motorsport star, Rowan Campbell-Pilling, has announced a new collaboration with local artist, Amadora Art. Earlier this month, Rowan and other British Formula 4 drivers made history by racing at the 2025 Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Craig Wood, a 34-year-old former Army rifleman from Doncaster, has made history by becoming the world’s first triple amputee to sail solo, non-stop, and unsupported across the Pacific. Craig is the first sailor with a disability to sail the Pacific solo and unsupported, covering 7506 nautical miles at an average speed of 3.6 knots: a feat he completed in 90 days.

In the Formula 1 world, there tends to be a silly season when rumours about potential driver changes surface, and this often occurs as the sport's four-week summer break approaches.

Unbeaten Sheffield prospect Dylan Trevor is gearing up for his third professional bout on July 19th, fighting in front of a home crowd at Skate Central, with the whole show being shown live and free-to-watch on Fightzone. Known for his relentless work ethic and love for the sport, Trevor has already been making waves in the sport, with his all-action style.

More action-packed sport is waiting in the wings this week from all over the world be it the Women’s Euros, the latter stages of the CWC or what is turning out to be another exciting Super League season.

Formula 1 returned to Silverstone this weekend, a venue where it all began back on 13 May 1950, and a packed three days of on-track action culminated in this afternoon’s rain-affected British Grand Prix, which was won by a delighted Lando Norris for McLaren. F1 rivalries, and especially intra-team ones, can often be intense, as each driver wants to prove to his team that he is faster.

Rowan Campbell-Pilling, Sheffield’s rising motorsport star, will be racing in British Formula 4’s guest appearance at the 2025 Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Formula 1 returned to action this weekend at Austria’s scenically located Red Bull Ring, and, after an entertaining Grand Prix this afternoon around the tight but fun circuit, it was McLaren’s Lando Norris who emerged victorious ahead of his teammate, Oscar Piastri, at the end of Red Bull’s home race.

Another week ticks by with a multitude of sporting action on display. This week there is a focus on international sports as June often does but there is still club sides duking it out with the club World Cup and Super League providing more drama throughout an action packed midweek.

Formula 1 headed to Montreal this weekend for the tenth round of the 2025 World Championship, and it was Mercedes’ George Russell who claimed the top step on the post-race podium after a close strategic encounter on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

A talented young footballer from the University of Sunderland has been selected by English Universities Sport (EUS) for their Men’s National Football Squad for the 2024-25 season.

Great Britain Ball Hockey have named their u16s squad ahead of the ISBHF World Championships at the end of the month. The squad which includes 21 players from across Yorkshire and Nottingham will make the trip to Hradec Králové in Czechia ahead of their first match on 25th June.
