In a bid to help the Wales Senior Men’s Hockey Team to reach the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, Ranmore Fund Management has launched a sponsorship and donation matching campaign.

Alongside sponsoring the team, they have pledged to ‘match every pound donated to the team's crowdfunding campaign from today until it closes, up to a target amount of £40,000’.

On their donation-matching campaign, the founder and portfolio manager of Ranmore Fund Management, Sean Peche, said: "Sport plays a vital role in our communities and that’s why Ranmore already sponsors 10 sports clubs in the UK and South Africa. When I heard Hockey Wales was still trying to raise the money needed to compete at the World Cup, I wanted to do something that would encourage as many people as possible to get involved."

"Qualifying for one World Cup was a remarkable achievement. Qualifying for a second consecutive tournament shows this isn't a one-off success story. This is a team that has earned its place among the world's best, and hopefully together we can help give them the best possible opportunity to compete."

Wales’ Men’s Hockey Team have secured qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup for only the second time in the nation's history, having made their World Cup debut in 2023.

However, to compete with the world’s best at the World Cup this summer in Belgium and the Netherlands, they must first raise £40,000.

The money will go towards covering the ‘significant cost of competing at the highest level of international hockey', which includes 'training camps, travel, accommodation and performance support’.

On Wales securing qualification for the World Cup, the Performance Director at Hockey Wales, Katie Glynn, said: "We’re excited to participate in our second consecutive World Cup and delighted to have Ranmore on board, both as a sponsor and a donation matching pledge, which reduces the financial burden on our players."

"The Wales Senior Men's Hockey Team first made history by qualifying for the 2023 Hockey World Cup in India before repeating the feat for the 2026 tournament. The squad hopes its success will inspire the next generation of hockey players across Wales and establish regular World Cup qualification as the standard for Welsh hockey.”

The Men’s 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup will take place across both Belgium and the Netherlands between 15th and 30th August with Wales’ first match taking place on the opening day of the tournament against India.
