Back in October, Cruz Beckham suddenly hard-launched his music career. Though the son of Posh and Becks had shown an interest in a music career early on the release of charity single,
If Every Day Was Christmas, back when he was 11, the launch of double A-side
Optics/Lick The Road proved somewhat of a revelation to music fans the world round – here was the son of two icons singing about sex and drugs with some real indie swagger. While his more recent and subsequent single,
For Your Love, showcased a poppier edge to his indie rock sound, with growing interest in his work, the pressure was on to prove he was more than just a Nepo Baby.

Before Beckham can take centre stage, former New Hope Club member Reece Bibby has a solo moment in the spotlight. With a few hardcore fans front and centre singing every word to his set, he showcases a very different direction from his boyband origins. A soulful singer/songwriter, his voice is very easy on the ear, and there is little doubt he has what it takes to make it on his own terms.
After a brief interlude, Cruz and his band, The Breakers, romp onto stage to a huge roar. With an audience filled by Spice Girls fans, curious minds and genuine fans, the quartet easily have the audience eating out of the palm of their hands as they showcase their new material alongside the recent singles.
Any questions of Nepo Baby-drawn success are effortlessly silenced as Cruz proves himself a natural frontman. With shades of both Mick Jagger and, more prominently, Jarvis Cocker, he has the likeability factor married with his undeniable cool presence.

However, presence and pull are not enough to make it in the verge disposable industry he is attempting to join. And the show also proves that he and his bandmates know how to pen an anthem. As their set delivers the truly addictive
For Your Love and 'Stomp' of
Lick The Toad, it also pays tribute to his icon, John Lennon, and his love, Jackie.
It is with the almost Courteeners-drive of
We Don't Fit that Cruz Beckham and The Breakers bring their set to a climax ahead of one final rendition of their current single,
For Your Love. And as they do, the audience is left thrilled at having had the chance to witness the dawn of a new band who are destined for greatness.
Cruz Beckham and the Breakers will have many naysayers to overcome, but their indie anthems ooze undeniable appeal.
