Following the recent completion of a £multi-million redevelopment programme, Lincoln’s White Hart Hotel is repositioning itself as a key conference and events destination, attracting businesses to the city.

First built as a Lodgings House for the visit of King Richard II to the city in 1386, the hotel was acquired by local businessman and keen historian, Andrew Long, in July 2022. Since then, the historic buildings have undergone an extensive and sympathetic programme of transformation and refurbishment in keeping with its rich history and heritage.

For centuries, the White Hart Hotel has played host to gatherings, celebrations and memorable occasions of historic significance, from royal visits and civic assemblies to notable historic milestones, celebrity guests and community events.

In 1915, the first military tank was conceived by Sir William Tritton and Major W.G. Wilson in an upstairs room in the hotel, now known as the Tank Room. A decade later, in 1925, the then Prince of Wales visited and dined at the hotel during a high-profile stop in Uphill Lincoln. Throughout the 19th century, the White Hart Hotel was a popular venue for political and civic gatherings, including a post-election celebration in 1820 which reportedly attracted around 1,000 guests.

More recently, it has welcomed high-profile names including Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, who stayed in 2005 while filming The Da Vinci Code, and musical theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Today, the hotel continues its long tradition of bringing people together, serving as a hospitality venue for major events including the world-famous Asylum Steampunk Festival and the city-wide Lincoln Festival of History.

The significant investment and complete reconfiguration of the hotel’s layout means that the White Hart’s conference and events offer combines its historic character with modern conferencing facilities, flexible and functional spaces and bespoke packages.

Taking centre stage is the Royal Courtyard – a distinctive events space beneath a unique glass dome which can cater for up to 100 delegates. Alongside it, the King Richard II Suite offers capacity for a further 100 delegates, with the option to combine both areas to create a flexible event environment for up to 200 delegates. The historically significant Tank Room offers private dining for up to ten guests.
