Silver Screen Weekly - What's Coming Up At The Cinema From Friday 28th July 2023

Our film critic and media correspondent has been looking and trawling the new releases. Here's what you can see on the big screen this week.

From Friday 28th July

Talk To Me (15)
From an exciting new voice in horror, in debut directors Danny and Michael Philippou, comes a supernatural chiller that many critics are calling the scariest film of the year. The film follows a young group of friends who film themselves taking part in a game of communication with the spirits, using an embalmed hand. However, soon these thrills turn into a waking nightmare as the game goes too far, unleashing evil forces. Talk To Me is a frightening, fresh, horror story, which uses classic storytelling, and has a cast of future stars giving it there all. Don’t miss this spine-tingling big screen frightener!

From Monday 31st July

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (PG)
The heroes in a half shell are back on the big screen, in this dazzling animated feature, which brings Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman’s more faithfully to life than ever before. From director Jeff Rowe and writer/producer Seth Rogen, Mutant Mayhem sees the turtle heroes (young newcomers Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon) try and be accepted in New York City as normal teenagers with their heroic acts. But, alongside human friend April O’ Neil (Ayo Edebiri), their attempt to overthrow a crime syndicate results in them facing an army of mutant creatures! Funny, stylish and exciting, this is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a new generation, while also paying respect to the franchise’s past. Co-starring Rose Byrne, Ice Cube, John Cena, Jackie Chan, Hannibal Buress, Natasha Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd, and more!
