Silver Screen Weekly - What's Coming Up At The Cinema From Friday 13 October 2023

 
Our film critic and media correspondent has been looking and trawling the new releases. Here's what you can see on the big screen this week.

From Friday 13th October

Sumotherhood (15)
Star and now writer/director Adam Deacon returns with Sumotherhood, a new entry in what many have called a comedic riff on the Hood trilogy, and a sequel to his 2011 film Anuvahood. This British urban action comedy sees Riko and Kane in need of money, when they decide to rob a megastar in a nightclub toilet and hold up the local bank, but things don't go as planned. As they end up in business with one of East London's toughest firms. Expect laughs, unexpected scrapes and a whole host of surprises, in a film with an incredible cast that includes, Adam Deacon, Danny Sapani, Peter Serafinowicz, Richie Campbell, Ed Sheeran, Vas Blackwood, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Jeremy Corbyn and Jennifer Saunders, among many many more!


The Miracle Club (12a)
Director Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s drama comedy, set in 1967, sees a group of working class ladies from Dublin, embark on a pilgrimage to Lourdes France for the trip of a lifetime. Although the arrival of someone from their past re-opens some old wounds ahead of this trip. Starring Maggie Smith, Laura Linney, Kathy Bates and Stephe Rea, this film promises to be a charming ride, that benefits no end from the effortless talents of its cast.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (12a)
Swifties unite for the blockbusting event cinema experience the entire world is talking about! If it has been a particularly cruel summer for you and you are still feeling a bit of bad blood about it, then prepare to shake it off! Taylor Swift is back on the big screen in style, as her epic new tour is playing in cinemas, so prepare to be enchanted with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.


Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie (U)
"No job is too big, no pup is too small!”. As the Paw Patrol is on a roll in again in the hit new animated film Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. This film sees the gang of super heroic canines back in action, in this critically acclaimed new adventure that sees a meteorite land in Adventure City, giving the pups superpowers and transforming them into The Mighty Pups! A perfect flick for the entire family with plenty of bark and cuteness.

Mean Streets (15) (50th anniversary 4K restored re-release of Martin Scorsese’s 1973 crime classic, starring Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro and David Proval.) -Friday 13th October
Silver Dollar Road (PG) (Documentary about a family fighting to retain ownership of the waterfront land on which they live.) - Friday 13th October
