Rediscover The Wild At Cumbria Nature Festival
The call of the wild is coming to West Cumbria this May. Cumbria Nature Festival is a three day celebration of all the wonderful landscapes of our county, from our gardens and parks to the wider countryside.
From the 8th to 10th May, Rivendell, near Workington, will transform into a vibrant hub of discovery. Whether it’s the quiet buzzing of a town garden, the rugged majesty of the fells, or the windswept beauty of the Solway Coast, the festival aims to prove that nature isn’t just “somewhere else” but is right on our doorsteps.
Everyone is invited to come along to this family-friendly celebration of nature, designed to inform and inspire, with talks and activities suitable for all ages and levels of expertise.

Local experts and groups will be on hand to talk about different aspects of our natural world. Keynote sessions from species reintroduction expert and author Derek Gow, multi-award-winning filmmaker and photographer Terry Abraham and Director General of the Wildwood Trust, Paul Whitfield, will make this a unique opportunity to meet the leading experts in UK wildlife conservation right here in West Cumbria.
There will also be an opportunity to explore the universe with local astronomer and frustrated Martian, Stuart Atkinson!
Tickets are on sale now. Please visit the website for more information and to book: https://www.cumbrianaturefestival.co.uk/
Sam Griffin, Cumbria Nature Festival Committee, said:
“Nature exists everywhere; from our urban parks and gardens to our farmland and fells. But in the modern world we are increasingly disconnected from nature by a lack of knowledge and understanding of wild species and processes. We hope to ignite a spark and enthuse everyone to get outside and into nature. Only by sharing our passion for nature can we hope to inspire a collective desire to protect what we are so lucky to still have in Cumbria.”
