DS.Emotion, the branding, marketing and creative placemaking agency, continues to cement its reputation as a leading strategic partner for ambitious regeneration and place-making initiatives across the UK.

With over three decades of expertise in transforming spaces into vibrant destinations, DS.Emotion has played a pivotal role in some of the most significant town centre and cultural regeneration projects in recent years.

One of the agency’s most successful initiatives has been its comprehensive brand development and placemaking for The Glass Works in Barnsley Town Centre, a cornerstone of the town’s wider regeneration strategy.

In collaboration with Barnsley Council and Queensberry, DS.Emotion crafted a compelling place identity and communications campaign that has helped reposition the town as a destination for residents, businesses and visitors alike. The approach also extended to refreshing the historic Barnsley Markets brand, reinforcing community pride and enhancing public engagement.

Kathy McArdle, Director for Regeneration and Culture from Barnsley Council stated: “DS.E's experience in the sector, coupled with their creative leadership, their sophisticated understanding of visual content and strong strategic approach has enabled us to realise the collective ambition for the town centre.”

Building on this success, DS.Emotion secured the branding contract for Our Cultural Heart in Huddersfield, a transformative project which is in progress, led by Kirklees Council. The strategy involved defining a bold narrative and visual identity for a new cultural quarter, anchored by revitalised public spaces, a food hall, library, museum, art gallery and entertainment venues, all designed to attract regional and national audiences.

Historically, DS.Emotion had also supported Bury Council in reinvigorating the borough’s brand and identity as part of its broader regeneration work. The agency’s collaborative workshop approach enabled public and private sector stakeholders to articulate a unified vision for the area, generating a “collective sense of purpose” felt by residents and partners alike.

In Bradford, DS.Emotion’s creative expertise has just been commissioned to contribute to the vision for the city’s evolving town centre scheme, including aspects of brand and narrative development intended to complement the wider Bradford City Village redevelopment strategy, a multi-use regeneration project set to deliver hundreds of new homes and revitalised public space.

Most recently, DS.Emotion has been instructed on the Hartlepool Production Village project, a partnership between Hartlepool Borough Council urban regeneration visionaries TIME + SPACE as well as other key stakeholders, including; The Hartlepool Board, Tees Valley Combined Authority, The Northern School of Art and North East Screen.

This new hub is designed to accelerate the North East’s film and media industry growth, supported by the Governments Local Regeneration and Town Deal Fund. Vital revenue and capital support will transform the urban environment, creating new jobs and opportunities in the creative industries sector and provide a vital boost to the local economy. This initiative reflects DS.Emotion’s expanding role in place-centric creative economies and destination branding.

Matt Button, Co-founder of DS.Emotion, commented: “We are delighted to be involved in this truly exciting project and can’t wait to engage fully with all stakeholders in the shaping of the narrative and brand driven campaigns for this amazing project; helping to shape Hartlepool’s future for generations to come.

“The Production Village required a team that had an in-depth knowledge of commercial regeneration. People with a track record of successful culturally driven projects, proven methods of engagement and creative communication.

“With its multidisciplinary approach to branding, marketing and activation, DS.Emotion remains at the forefront of shaping memorable, commercially successful and socially meaningful places across the UK and overseas."
