Pie Today, Gone Tomorrow!

As one ‘national’ Bradford museum closes for a year long refurb, another is inviting the world to check out its Medieval meat pies!

The National Science and Media Museum has temporarily closed its doors until summer 2024 when it will reopen following a once-in-a-generation £6m transformation.

The museum’s IMAX, the biggest screen in the region, has also temporarily closed as part of the work, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The major Sound and Vision project will create two new galleries, an additional passenger lift and an enhanced foyer space.

Throughout the temporary closure, visitors will be able to keep in touch with the museum at community events and activities at local organisations throughout Bradford district.

To keep up to date with the progress on the Sound and Vision project, and the museum’s reopening, please visit: www.scienceandmediamuseum.org.uk

Discover a Bradfordian Banquet at Bolling Hall
A timeline of food and related equipment from the Middle Ages to the present day is now on display at Bradford’s Bolling Hall Museum

The exhibition at the Bradford Council-run museum, which partially dates back to the Middle Ages, takes visitors on a journey to explore how our diet has changed over the past thousand years, and the role that the Bradford district has played in this.

Did you know that the Tudors would have enjoyed a dish similar to the modern favourite sweet and sour chicken?

Discover the world-wide influences that have shaped our diet since the Middle Ages including the import of fruit, vegetables, spices and sugar, and the way that we have adapted what we eat due to industry, war and travel.

To find out more about the exhibition which is on until September 2023 visit https://bradfordmuseums.org/
