On Monday the team at Cumbria’s The Old Stamp House in Ambleside learned that the restaurant has been included in the tenth-anniversary edition of La Liste, which highlights the top 1,000 restaurants across 200 countries.

This marks the third consecutive year that the Lakes restaurant has featured in what is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading culinary rankings.

At an awards ceremony in Paris, La Liste revealed 83 UK restaurants among its global selection. The Old Stamp House received an impressive score of 82 out of 100, placing it 58th in the UK and sixth-highest in the wider Northwest region. Close behind were Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai with a score of 81, Lake Road Kitchen with a score of 80, and Source at Gilpin scoring 77.5.

Alongside unveiling the top 1,000 restaurants, La Liste also presented 14 special awards celebrating diversity, excellence, creativity, commitment, courage, and the industry’s capacity for reinvention. In total, 37 winners from 20 countries were honoured.

Since its launch in 2015 with a single list of 1,000 restaurants, La Liste has expanded to cover 200 countries and now also publishes an annual list of the world’s top 1,000 hotels. Its scoring system draws on reviews, guidebooks, and trusted publications to curate a global selection of the finest dining destinations.

For the 2026 edition, marking its tenth anniversary, La Liste assessed more than 33,000 restaurants worldwide, using over 1,150 international sources, including national and regional media, expert guides, and specialist digital platforms such as customer-review sites.

Ryan Blackburn, chef-owner of The Old Stamp House, said: “It’s a real honour to be among the 83 UK restaurants in La Liste 2026. Being assessed alongside restaurants from around the world, and those closer to home that we respect and admire, is a great way to develop not only yourself but the restaurant as a whole. Being included for the third consecutive year is incredibly humbling and a real pat on the back for everything the team strives to do for our guests. I’d like to say a huge thank you to every member of the team for their continued hard work and dedication.”
