Hydes’ head of operations, Neil Lawrence and finance director, Simon Mollitt arrive at the first pub of the day, The Pack Horse as part of their trial run of Race Across Hydes.
Salford-based brewer Hydes is inviting pub-goers to embark on a summer of discovery across the North West and North Wales with the launch of its latest customer loyalty initiative, Race Across Hydes.
Loosely inspired by the popular TV adventure series, the initiative encourages customers to explore the rich heritage and diverse atmosphere of Hydes’ extensive pub estate while competing for a grand prize of £1,500.
Pub-goers aged 18 and over can pick up a dedicated map leaflet from any of the 27 participating Hydes pubs from 1st May. The challenge requires entrants to visit all 27 listed locations by the end of July, collecting a unique stamp with a drink purchase at every stop along the way. From the historic streets of Manchester and the suburban charm of Didsbury to the scenic reaches of the Wirral and Wrexham, the race showcases the geographical breadth and local character of the Hydes pub estate.
The individual who completes the full 27-pub circuit in the fastest time will be crowned the winner of the £1,500 jackpot. Recognising the commitment required to traverse the estate, Hydes has also ensured that the initiative rewards all levels of participation. Customers who do not manage to visit every location can still enter a free prize draw for a chance to win £500 and other brewery-related rewards, with each stamp collected increasing their chances of winning.
Adam Mayers, managing director of Hydes, who recently completed the race across all participating 27 Hydes pubs in a dry run with management colleagues, said: "We wanted to create a fun, engaging way for existing and new customers to experience the full variety of the Hydes estate this summer. The route takes in some of the best and most characterful pubs the region has to offer, from the legendary Grey Horse, officially one of the smallest pubs in Manchester city centre, to The Mount Inn at Broughton, with its spectacular views overlooking the River Dee and historic Chester.
“Race Across Hydes is about more than just a competition, it’s an invitation to rediscover local favourites and find new hidden gems within our community. Whether you are aiming to be the fastest to finish the map or simply want to enjoy a quality pint in a few new settings with friends and family, this initiative celebrates the great British pub as a destination for adventure and social connection."
Participants are encouraged to document their journeys by taking photos at each location and tagging @Hydesbrewery on social media. Once a map is complete, it must be posted in a designated post box within a participating pub before the end of July to be eligible. All entrants will then be invited to a celebratory race party at The Victoria in Withington at the end of August, where the winners will be officially announced and prizes awarded.
Established in 1863, Hydes remains an independent fixture of the regional brewing scene. Operating from its premises in Media City, the brewery supplies a diverse estate of over 40 pubs across the North West and North Wales.
