Harrison’s Sweet Taste Of Success

Northern holiday success story, Preston’s Harrison Leisure Group, has welcomed a new addition to the family with the acquisition of Suffolk’s Cakes & Ale Holiday Park

The family run firm, which has been in operation since 1974, has opened its first holiday park in the south of England, signalling its continuing plan to expand across the UK.

Like Harrison Leisure Group, Cakes & Ale has been family run for decades and under its new owners the friendly atmosphere and community feel it is renowned for will continue to be fostered, say the new owners.

Situated on the stunning Suffolk heritage coastline, where it is surrounded by nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries, the 45-acre site is made up of 200 owned statics and lodges, 55 touring pitches and three rental cottages. There is also a large recreational area that features tennis courts, golf, boules, football goals and a golf practice range.

The purchase comes just 15 months after the team at Harrison Leisure Group announced the acquisition of Rawcliffe Hall Holiday Park in Blackpool and takes its portfolio of holiday parks to nine with existing locations in the North West, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Northumberland.

Location is always key, and Cakes & Ale offers holidaymakers the chance to enjoy the Suffolk beaches, charming villages such as Southwold, Thorpeness and Adleburgh and attractions such as RSPB Minsmere.

William Harrison, Director at Harrison Leisure Group, said, “We are delighted to be taking over Cakes & Ale, which is a wonderful holiday park in beautiful Suffolk that has a strong family ethos, making it the perfect fit.

“This is also a special moment because it is our first holiday park in the south of England and, as we look forward, we will be continuing to seek opportunities to expand the Harrison offer into other areas of the country.”

Harrison Leisure Group was founded in 1974 by George Harrison and continues to be run by his sons today.

From its Preston headquarters the company manages nine holiday parks across country and coastal locations.
