Spring is the perfect time to visit Palma, the capital of the Balearics.

Son Ferriol Agricultural Fair
March 29 – 30
The village-like neighbourhood in Palma, Son Ferriol, celebrates the best of the island’s agriculture and local produce on these two days. While farmers are busy buying equipment, the public is welcomed at this free event to try local food, enjoy live shows and performances and browse markets of antiques and handicrafts as well as seeing the animals. Around 200,000 people will visit during the weekend creating a festival atmosphere and a real celebration of Mallorca’s rich gastronomy.

Princess Sofia Sailing Trophy 2020
March 27 - April 4
Every year, thousands of sailors from countries around the world participate in the S.A.R. Princess Sofía trophy. Renowned as one of the most competitive sailing events in Spain, the trophy first began in 1968 and has welcomed some of the best Olympic, World and European crews from around the globe. The marina, filled with thousands of boats and more than 1,500 sailors, descend on the city for the prestigious competition, bringing a riot of colour to the waterfront.

Semana Santa (Holy Week)
April 9 – 12
One of the most traditional events included in Palma’s cultural calendar is Easter’s Holy Week, when penitents from different churches take part in processions known as carapunets. Expect solemn music and the beating of drums, the smell of incense filling the air and the unusual sight of the hooded brotherhoods swaying down the streets carrying huge religious statues. By far the favourite procession is that of the Cristo de la Sangre brotherhood on Thursday, April 9.

Palma Beer Festival
April 26- May 5
What could be better than a cold beer when you have been strolling through Palma’s sunny streets? This festival is free to enter and hosted in a remarkable location right in front of the cathedral. The Palma Beer Festival is the perfect chance for travellers to discover 200 different types of beer with tastings from renowned brands and local Mallorcan breweries alike. When it comes to beer, whether it is a light lager or an IPA, nothing accompanies it better than good food, so this festival also includes specially designed and created tapas menus to complement visitor’s beer experience.

37th Palma International Boat Show
April 29-May 3
For the 37th year running, 270 exhibitors and more than 600 boats come together to celebrate all things maritime in Palma. With 82,000 square metres of exhibition space and some of the most beautiful and modern boats around, the Palma International Boat Show is not to be missed. Visitors longing for the high life won’t want to miss the 100 superyachts on display, while other fun activities are planned for the whole family to get everyone excited about watersports. Previous experiences have included everything from electric surfboards to cocktail tasting.
