Esther Abrami has been hand-picked by Julian Lloyd Webber as one of Classic FM's 30 under 30, and she has captured the imagination of the Tik Tok generation, boasting over 400,000 followers on the platform. Having only revealed her eponymous debut album last year, she was met with critical acclaim, and her live prowess has been praised universally. As she prepares for her latest solo tour, she has teamed up with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra for a new collection, simply titled
Cinéma, which is a collection of her favourite film and animé soundtracks.
While the collection is a very different selection of songs from her debut recording, the depth of her artistry is clear throughout the album's fifteen songs. Diverse in its selection, the album highlights the tender delivery of her playing, and it is easy for the listener to be transported into the emotion of each of these powerful musical moments.
Opening the album with Naruto:
Alone Theme, the collection lilts you into its arms as it journeys through a dreamy performance of
If (from
The Diary of Anne Frank), a playful
Vois sur ton chemin (from
Les Choristes), a lilting
The Hanging Tree (from
The Hunger Games), and a charmed
The Little Prince Orchestra Suite.
Although there is no denying that the song selection is faultless, it is the delivery by Abrami and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra that makes this a truly spell-binding collection. There is little surprise that her social media figures are rising as she brings classical music into the realms of the Tik Tok generation without compromising on its integral charm.
