Victorian Charm Of Buxton Gets Boost

One of Britain’s most significant Georgian architectural buildings, the Buxton Crescent Hotel in Derbyshire, is re-opening next month following a major restoration.

It is the first UK property from Ensana Hotels, Europe’s largest health operator and widely regarded as a custodian of European thermal spas utilising powerful natural resources.
Thanks to The Fifth Duke of Devonshire, who developed the town with grand architecture, the 19th century was a golden age for Buxton when ‘taking the waters’ was a fashionable pastime for notable high-society visitors.

Now, guests can experience the therapeutic qualities of the water themselves from October 1st, as water wellness returns to the forefront of the Peak District hotel’s spa offering.

The Buxton Crescent Hotel is home to three pools...
...the Thermal Pool which is a fully refurbished Victorian pool boasting the unique feature of having Buxton mineral rich water flowing into it, which is heated and left chemically untreated; a relaxation pool with an atmospheric dark ceiling pierced with shafts of light and an impressive indoor-outdoor rooftop pool.

The spa is home to eight treatment rooms, one of which has been custom built for dual treatments. A number of the treatment rooms feature original stained-glass windows.

The property comprises 81 rooms and suites, blending the outstanding history of the 18th century exterior and features reminiscent of this era, such as chandeliers, painted ceilings and stained-glass windows complemented with stylish furniture and modern comforts.

Launched in 2019, Ensana is the leading health spa brand in Europe. The group currently manages 26 spa hotels across Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the UK and has a wide collection of spa hotels located in Europe’s most historic spa towns.

Buxton Crescent opens on 1st October 2020. Rates start from £125 per night based on two people sharing an Attic Room on a B&B basis. www.ensanahotels.com/buxton/en
