Toast Dry January With A Yorkshire Tonic

Going dry this January? Then why not treat yourself to a refreshing non-alcoholic Yorkshire Tonic.

Produced by Raisthorpe Distillery, Yorkshire Tonics are just the ticket as consumers seek out tasty alternatives to alcohol during the first month of the new year.

Choose from award-winning Raisthorpe’s traditional and fruit flavoured tonics to enjoy all the taste and make sure you’re on target with your Dry January goals.

Yorkshire Tonics are made at Raisthorpe’s distillery in Thixendale on the Yorkshire Wolds by blending local water with a range of natural citrus and fruity botanicals and quassia, rather than traditional quinine.

Quassia - which is derived from a shrubby tree - imparts a less bitter flavour than quinine and doesn’t need to be artificially sweetened, making the tonic less calorific, helping consumers to achieve another of their January goals.

The range includes Premium and Skinny tonics as well as Citrus, Apple and Elderflower flavours, all of which have accredited vegan status. Other flavours include Strawberry and Pomegranate; Pink Grapefruit; and Mixed Berry.

The range is completed by a new Paradise tonic which won a Quality Food Award last year. The tonic combines natural extracts of quassia and Mediterranean botanicals to give it a fresh, sharp flavour – perfect for Dry January days.

Oliver Medforth, sales and operations director at Raisthorpe Distillery, said:
“January has firmly become the month when many people give up alcohol after the Christmas festivities. Our Yorkshire Tonics are a crisp, refreshing long drink served with ice and a slice and perfect for replacing an alcoholic tipple without leaving you feeling deprived of a treat.”

Raisthorpe is a family business, launched more than 10 years ago by Julia Medforth at the family farm in Thixendale. Raisthorpe launched its range of tonics three years ago in response to consumer demand for locally produced, premium flavoured tonics. The company also produces a range of award-winning gin liqueurs, vodkas and dry gin.

Available in 200 ml and 500 ml bottles, Yorkshire Tonics are stocked in Morrisons and Booths stores across the North of England and are available from farm shops, delis, independent retailers and the hospitality sector. The tonics are also available from Raisthorpe’s shop at the York Designer Outlet centre and online at
