Thames Tourists Get COVID-19 Promise From City Cruises

City Cruises, the leading operator of passenger services on the River Thames, has announced a new degree of flexibility with regards to booking tickets.

Whilst the outbreak of COVID-19 is affecting the UK, all customers who have booked any experience with City Cruises including ThamesJet – the 50 minute speed boat experience – and wish to postpone, may do so free of an amendment fee, within 48 hours of the planned cruise, to another travel date in 2020.

In addition to increased flexibility City Cruises has also implemented a new cleaning directive on all of the brand’s boats. Staff on board have been issued with hand-sanitiser, and those preparing food and serving drinks will wear protective gloves at all times.

All surfaces which customers may come into contact with will be cleaned with anti-bacterial spray every 30 minutes and every boat is being cleaned with disease control chemicals at the end of the day when the boat is out of service. The kitchen areas already receive a daily deep clean and hold a five-star food standard certificate from the Health and Food Authorities

Kyle Haughton, managing director of City Cruises, commented: “The health and safety of our staff and passengers is our number one priority. We are living in unprecedented times and it is important that we react swiftly to adjust our services and ensure our staff can continue to enjoy working with us, and our passengers can experience the best river cruise product on the River Thames free from worries about COVID-19.”

Recent research conducted by Finn Partners, a leading travel marketing and communications firm revealed 68% of respondents say they would happily book their holiday if they could change it at no extra cost and avoid losing money – making flexibility the key priority for the travel industry right now.
