The Imbeciles - The Imbeciles

Let's just say that there is nothing around at the moment like the debut album from The Imbeciles. If you mixed Motörhead with The Ramones and added a touch of the blues you might be halfway there to describing their sound.

The 13 songs on display here rarely last for longer than 2 minutes. Recorded on tape in 8 days on the Texan- Mexican border the album is an energetic if at times deranged journey for the listener to enjoy.

These might be unprecedented times we are all living in but when it is all over the Imbeciles would be the band you would want to see to get rid of all your excess energy.

If you wanted to feel some anger try D.I.E. which has some blues guitar mixed with a touch of punk. It could be 1977 all over again.

Stalking Boy at times sounds like Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps played by Splodgenessabounds then just as you think things are going fine the track follows a blues route.

One Hand Tommy is the closet they get to a truly commercial song whilst Oh My Rod Part 2 starts off like the Motörhead track, Ace Of Spades before going off in a tangent.

Medicine is as raw as it gets - the thing is, once you have heard most of these short snippets of pure adrenaline you end up with them reverberating around your head.

The band's name might imply they are foolish, but it would be foolish not to check out this exciting debut.

I rate the album 3 out of 5.
