It’s that time of the week again and league football is back. This brings the big hitters back to Yorkshire with four EFL teams back in ‘Gods Own County’ this weekend, ready for some gripping games of football.

So this weekend, watch out for the ice, keep yourself warm and take a look at the following fixtures that are sure to bring you drama and goals.

Saturday 23rd November: Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City

The Owls host struggling side Cardiff City this weekend in the EFL Championship. Cardiff are 22nd in the league standings, but with only three points and seven places separating the two sides, an action-packed affair is to be expected.

Wednesday head into this fixture on the back of a 1-0 derby day defeat to bitter rivals Sheffield United.
The international break however will have given Danny Röhl’s side a chance to press the reset button and put that result behind them, as they will intend on being three points better off come Saturday evening.

Cardiff City head to Hillsborough without a win in three games, losing to both Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers in their last two outings. The Bluebirds will be hoping to turn this around when they head to South Yorkshire, knowing 3 points could help them climb out of the relegation zone.

This game could go either way, but the visitors’ poor record when taking the trip to the Steel City could be one to fill the home supporters with a bit of hope, as Cardiff will be looking to avoid five straight defeats in Yorkshire.

A win would be a huge result for either team - this is one to keep an eye on this Saturday.

Date: Saturday 23rd November 2024
Kick Off: 12:30pm
Location: Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, S6 1SW
Ticket Prices: Adult £34-£43

Saturday 23rd November: Barnsley vs Wigan Athletic

Wigan head down the M62 to face an in-form Barnsley who will look to pounce on a great opportunity for three points; which could see the Tykes move to third in the table.

Check out this weekend's match preview story for more details on this fixture.

Date: Saturday 23rd November 2024
Kick Off: 15:00pm
Location: Oakwell Stadium, Grove St, Barnsley, S71 1ET
Ticket Prices: Adult £26

Saturday 23rd November: Huddersfield Town vs Charlton Athletic

Next up this weekend is Huddersfield Town vs Charlton Athletic, and the EFL League One fixture is one that should not be missed. This game is always one with goals, cards and drama, so I expect nothing less this week as the two sides go head-to-head at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Terriers currently sit 8th in League One and have a very strong record against the visitors, having won their last four games against The Addicks, scoring twelve goals in the process. Michael Duff’s side however have recently been on the wrong end of an FA Cup upset, losing to Tamworth in the first round of the tournament.

Huddersfield will be hungry to prove themselves as a dangerous outfit in League One, and hope 3 points will move them into the play-off places, as they continue their bid for promotion.
Charlton arrive in Huddersfield with a point to prove, as the last time they received three points on opposition turf was back in 2013. Three points on Saturday could move them into the top half of the table, setting themselves up nicely for the packed festive schedule.

League One games however are always unpredictable and an upset could very much be on the cards this weekend, as both sides will be fresh after a well needed week off from league football.

Date: Saturday 23rd November 2024
Kick Off: 15:00pm
Location: John Smith’s Stadium, Stadium Way, Huddersfield, HD1 6PG
