Slug And Lettuce Christmas Fayre Menu And Festive Favourites

The Slug and Lettuce chain have again this year launched their Christmas Fayre Menu. 2 courses are £22.99 from Sunday to Wednesday or £25.99 from Thursday to Saturday.

If your appetite is on the large side then you might like 3 courses which cost £24.99 or £27.99 Thursday to Saturday. The Kids' Menu costs £19.99 for 3 courses.

On the adult menu starters include Tomato and Basil Soup and Lobster and Seafood Cocktail.

Naturally the main menu includes Hand-Carved Turkey served with a pork, orange and fig stuffing, pigs-in-blankets, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, roasted parsnips and red wine gravy. For vegetarians there is the Smoked Cheese Beetroot Tart or for sea food lovers there is Fillet of Salmon.

Desserts include Christmas Pudding, Baked Vanilla Cheesecake and Pornstar Pavlova.

For something lighter then there are what they call Festive Favourites, including a Festive Burger or a Festive Spicy Bean Burger.

I tried the Festive Turkey Sub, priced at £7.79 it was meant to be an artisan sub filled with hot turkey, cranberry and sage and onion stuffing topped with a pig-in-blanket and served with hot fries. There appeared to be more stuffing than turkey, though it was served hot and was tasty.

They also have a Mince Pie Muffin, either it must be very good or they have not ordered enough in, as there wasn't any left when we visited the York Riverside restaurant, so I had to have the ginger muffin which was a little too dry for my liking, but the ice cream that comes on the side did help a little.

My partner chose 3 mini desserts from the main menu which cost £7.00 for any 3. The Limoncello Drizzle Sponge was zestful, the Warm Brownie Bites very gooey and the Pornstar Eton Mess very moreish.

As Christmas menus go it was alright but you might be better choosing the Christmas Fayre Menu as opposed to the Festive Favourites Menu.
