Silver Screen Weekly - What's Coming Up At The Cinema From Friday 1st December 2023

Our film critic and media correspondent has been looking and trawling the new releases. Here's what you can see on the big screen this week.

From Friday 1st December

Eileen (15)
Director William Oldroyd adapts Ottessa Moshfegh 2015 novel for the big screen in this acclaimed psychological thriller. Set in 1960s Boston, the film tells the story of Eileen Dunlop (Last Night in Soho’s Thomasin McKenzie) who works at a juvenile detention facility, where she is captivated by a new counsellor (Anne Hathaway), who seems to help her with her own personality, but may be drawing her into something deeper and darker. Critics have praised this as a worthwhile adaptation of the source material, with magnetic lead performances and a twisty tale of obsession that will really get in your head.
