North Yorkshire Distillery Launches Flagship Single Malt Whisky

Hunmanby-based Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery has launched Filey Bay Flagship - a single malt whisky. Characterised by flavours of citrus, caramel, honey and vanilla, the distillery's latest release is the cornerstone of its future core range.

"Just over a year on from our First Release, our Flagship whisky doesn't just represent our light and fruity house style, but years of hard work and planning of a whole team of dedicated and passionate people," said Spirit of Yorkshire Director and Co-Founder, David Thompson.

"It is a beautifully rounded light, fruity and creamy single malt whisky that is made with 100% homegrown barley. Our ethos is all about respecting tradition but doing things our own way, and the style, taste and creation of Flagship truly brings this to life! We're excited about future bottlings."

The distillery's Whisky Director, Joe Clark added:

"Flagship brings together some of our very best and oldest whisky, matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks that have been carefully selected and gently married together to create a beautifully balanced, light and fruity whisky.

"As the years ahead unfold, our Flagship whisky will continue to develop, as age and time reveal more casks and flavour in our warehouse, as is the nature of whisky production and part of what makes it so special."

Filey Bay Flagship, 46% ABV, costs £55 and is available from the distillery shop, online at spiritofyorkshire.com and from selected specialist retailers nationwide.

Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery was launched in 2016 and is a collaboration between farmer and brewer, Tom Mellor from Wold Top Brewery and business partner, David Thompson.
