The Most Popular Guilty Pleasure Festive Films
Topping the list is
Deck The Halls, starring Matthew Broderick, Danny DeVito and Kristin Davis, with a score of 65%. The movie sees two families fighting to prove who is the most passionate about Christmas. Whilst the movie is popular, it only scores 6% on Rotten Tomatoes and just 5.0 on IMDb; however, with over 1.62 million global Google searches each year, it’s a guilty pleasure for many around the world.
The 1998 movie
Jack Frost ranks second, with the feel-good film being a firm favourite with families as they follow along with Jack, Charlie and Gabby Frost. The film closely follows
Deck The Halls with a Guilty Pleasure Score of 62%, thanks to its low Rotten Tomato score of just 19%; however, that doesn’t seem to have put off the millions of users searching for it each year.
Following in third, scoring 61%, is
Christmas With The Kranks, the Christmas comedy which stars Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, which receives 1.98 million Google searches every year despite its 5% Rotten Tomato Score.
Rounding off the top five are
Home Alone 3 and
Best Christmas Ever, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively. Providing some hilarious moments, the third instalment of the
Home Alone franchise sees eight-year-old Alex fend off thieves trying to acquire a top-secret chip hidden in his toy car. The film might not have the original cast, but it’s still a guilty pleasure for many, proven by the 3.61 million Google searches made each year.
Fifth is the 2023 Netflix movie
Best Christmas Ever, which scored a healthy 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a more highly rated movie than some of the others in the top 10, giving it an overall score of 58%.
Other popular Christmas movies ranking in the top 20 include
Love Actually (47%) in 13th, which follows the lives of multiple characters as they navigate the festive season, and
