Maggie's 4000 Mile Charity Ride

Maggie Tookey has been at the forefront of The Edinburgh Direct Aid's work in many places including Kosovo, Lebanon Kenya and Pakistan.

For her 70th birthday Maggie Tookey is planning a zero-emissions 4000 mile journey, much of it by bike with a bus or train thrown in where necessary.

Maggie will be doing her epic bike ride April to Sept/Oct 2020, helping to provide schooling for displaced Syrian refugee children in the border camps of Syria and Lebanon.

The journey starts from where The Edinburgh Direct Aid (EDA) began work in Sarajevo, and continues via Kosovo, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Krygystan, China and Pakistan.

In Pakistan Maggie will revisit primary care clinics built by EDA after the 2005 earthquake, high up in the Neelum Valley in Pakistan controlled Kashmir.

Refugees and the displaced sit it out in shacks and tents, waiting for sanity to return. They can bear it: provided there is hope and schooling for their children. With your help, EDA will help.

Edinburgh Direct Aid has been helping victims of war and natural disasters in Bosnia, Kosovo, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Kenya, Gaza, Greece, Syria and Pakistan since 1992.
