Kynren Celebrates A Decade Of Spectacular Shows!

2025 Tickets On Sale Now
Following the success of its 2024 season, tickets are now on sale to experience Kynren – An Epic Tale of England in 2025.

Bishop Auckland’s renowned live-action show is set to mark its 10th anniversary in 2025, with tickets now available for its milestone season.

The County Durham spectacular is the UK’s biggest outdoor show performed on a seven-and-a-half-acre stage featuring pyrotechnics, stunts and a 1,000-strong volunteer cast and crew.

Kynren welcomed record audiences from across the UK and beyond in 2024, and will be returning with an expanded schedule and new highlights for the upcoming season.

2025 will be a significant year for the award-winning production as it marks its tenth season and the attraction is set to continue to captivate audiences with its immersive storytelling, cinematic scale, and thrilling choreography.

Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren, said:
“Our 10th season is a remarkable milestone, reflecting years of dedication from our community of volunteers. The energy and enthusiasm of audiences keeps us motivated to deliver a show that is bigger and better every year. We’re proud to welcome guests from across the country and beyond to celebrate England’s history, myths, and legends in such a spectacular way.”

Next year will also include a special celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, with Kynren’s replica of the iconic Locomotion No.1 taking centre stage in the production. The popular Viking Village will also return, offering visitors an enhanced pre-show experience with authentic sights, sounds, and interactions in a recreated settlement.

Anna added: “Our very own Locomotion No.1 prop makes a memorable journey across the stage, and we’ll be sure to shine a spotlight on this too next year, celebrating this special milestone for the region,” added Anna.

Whilst the North East region continues to be Kynren’s core audience, the show has also seen a significant rise in people from outside the area in 2024, with 44 per cent of visitors coming from beyond the North East.

Anna said: “It’s great to see that Kynren has encouraged visits to County Durham, bringing tourism-related expenditure whilst also establishing Bishop Auckland as a short break destination. We’re incredibly proud of our area and our community, and all of us at Kynren are delighted to play a role in supporting this further.”

In the shadow of the ancient Auckland Palace, Kynren is a spectacle for all ages and interests. The 90-minute performance in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, needs to be seen to be believed as performances start at dusk when the sun begins to set and end in celebratory fireworks under starlight.

Following young Arthur, audiences are taken on a beguiling journey through England’s history and witness impressive horsemanship, fiery stunts, a life-size steam engine burst onto the scene as well as Kynren’s most loveable cast members, a gaggle of geese.

From Boudicca’s battles with the Romans to two world wars, as well as Vikings, Tudors, Stuarts, Queen Victoria and the Industrial Revolution, Kynren is a real whistlestop tour of 2,000 years of history myth and legend. It is a spellbinding, family-friendly experience delivering thrills, shocks, tears, laughs, goosebumps and gasps on a truly cinematic scale.
