King Calaway - Rivers (BMG)

If you like The Shires, The Eagles or even The Doobie Brothers, chances are you will like this debut album from King Calaway.

The six members of the group all come from different corners of the globe. The album was recorded in a single take and captures their live sound.

Opening with No Matter What, the country flavoured track typifies the King Calaway sound perfectly. The title track Rivers could actually make a good dance track if they did a remix of the song, think of Avicci here and you would be on the right path.

They can do ballads as well - Missing You being a good case in point and Picture of the Way You Are, if Westlife had covered the song it would be one of their biggest songs.

A cover of the Stephen Stills song Love The One You're With sounds slightly slowed down from the original version. The band's vocal harmonies come to the fore on closing number I Did.

Each song here contains a story and none of the tracks feel like fillers. If they were to tour in this country it would raise their profile and let people discover them, but anyway, you already have now.

I rate the album 3 out of 5
