Initiative To Boost Beleaguered Hotel Industry

Members of the Italian hospitality industry have launched a promotional campaign to help jump-start the leisure travel industry post Covid-19.

And in doing so, NHS workers are set to benefit from the ‘Buy One, Give One’ campaign which will ‘gift’ one free night for every two nights booked.

The initiative is being spearheaded by MMGY Global, the largest integrated marketing company specialising in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry, along with the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI).

The two organisations also have key support from Paragon 700 Boutique Hotel & Spa in Puglia, Italy and, between them, the aim is to generate immediate revenue for hotels once Euro lockdowns have ended and something resembling normality has returned. The campaign is also an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly on the Coronavirus front line.

The impact of the COVID-19 crisis has devastated the travel and hospitality industry, with countless hotels currently closed globally and hospitality employees out of work. According to data released by the Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), 70% of hotel employees have lost their jobs and eight in 10 hotel rooms are empty.
