As Winter brings the cold, rain and darker evenings to the UK, Tefal has researched some of Britain’s favourite winter dishes that bring warmth and comfort throughout the cooler months, and some of the recipes to try at home.

The research revealed over half (53%) of UK adults enjoy eating stew in the cold weather, making it the most popular one-pot dish in the UK followed by soup (48%), casserole (47%), curry (44%), chilli con-carne (36%). There are differing opinions between genders when it comes to soup however with men preferring casseroles (45%) and curries (44%) over a hearty soup (43%) while women would much prefer to opt for a warming soup (53%) after a stew (54%) in the cooler months.

While almost half of the UK (48%) would call a one-pot dish with meat and vegetables in a stew, over a third would call it a casserole (36%), while less popular names nationwide include a hot pot (10%) and scouse (3%). Nearly a fifth of the North East (15%) and a seventh of those in Northern Ireland (13%) would call it a hot pot while the same amount of people would call it a hot pot or scouse in the North West (7%).

For all your stew, soup and casserole needs, the Tefal Air cookware range is a must-have for cast iron-style cooking, minus the heavy lifting. The 24cm Air stew pot is even 3 times lighter than traditional cast iron pots. Crafted from sturdy yet lightweight cast aluminium, the Air cookware is easy to lift in and out of the oven, even when packed with meat and vegetables.

Featuring durable ceramic coating, a condensation lid that locks in juices and a thick base guarantees uniform heat distribution, so everything cooks evenly. This stew pot can also be used on any kind of hob and can be used for oven cooking and is dishwasher safe.

Stefan Kaczmarczyk, Cookware Marketing Manager said:
“We designed the Air range with the goal of creating a cast-iron cooking experience without having to worry about being able to lift the heavy stew pot from hob to oven. With the Air range, Brits can cook their much loved one pot dishes, whether they call it a stew, casserole or hot pot, in a lightweight, easy to clean pot that provides perfectly cooked hearty meals every time.”
