B. Braun Medical Ltd Shortlisted For Industry Award

B. Braun Medical Ltd’s nurses have been shortlisted for a Nursing Times award.

The Sheffield-based company is a finalist in the ‘Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff’ category at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards.

B. Braun undertook three projects which formed the basis of the shortlist. Firstly, the company launched an overseas nurse recruitment programme in response to the shortage of 40,000 nurses in the UK.

Secondly, B. Braun set up a health and wellbeing programme after recognising the need to do more to support staff dealing with patient bereavement, especially during the pandemic.

The company also set up ‘The Year of the B. Braun Nurse 2021’ awards to recognise the dedication nursing staff have shown to patient care in very challenging circumstances.

B. Braun has a number of specialist nursing teams who work in partnership with the NHS. The TransCare nurses enable patients to receive parenteral infusion therapy in their own homes. The Avitum nurse team care for patients receiving haemodialysis in our clinics. The Emerald homecare team operate in both hospital and homecare settings to ensure patients get access to the most appropriate ostomy and incontinence products, and the Clinical Education Specialists provide familiarisation and training of B. Braun products and associated clinical skills to Healthcare Professionals.

David Oates, UK Group Managing Director at B. Braun, said: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award. It’s a testament to the dedication of our teams who have worked tirelessly and courageously to ensure that our patients continued to receive lifesaving treatments despite the pandemic.

“To be in the running for a Nursing Times award after what has been an exceptionally challenging 18 months for the profession is a huge honour and I am very proud of everyone who contributed to this.”

The Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards bring together the brightest talent in workforce planning and recognise those making a difference in recruitment, staff retention, wellbeing and inclusion.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony at Brewery Hall in London on 17 November.
